Information exchange and collaboration

Starting in 2006, NAV CANADA joined with other aviation stakeholders to create the Runway Safety and Incursion Prevention Panel (RSIPP), which serves as a national forum for exchanging information on runway safety and runway incursions, later including excursions.

In 2018 the name was changed to Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) with an updated focus on recommending actions to Transport Canada on ways to reduce the number of incidents.

NAV CANADA chairs the RSAT, which consists of a broad range of stakeholders who bring their organization’s concerns and recommendations for discussion, and to make recommendations to improve runway safety. Many of the team’s recommendations resulted in safety improvements in Canada.
