This notice serves to advise that NAV CANADA, the country's provider of civil air navigation services, has assessed the impact on services and local airspace following the announcement from the Toronto / Downsview Airport, ON (CYZD) operator of their intention to cease operations as of April 2024.

Changes resulting from the above closure, and the recent closure of the Toronto / Buttonville Municipal, ON (CYKZ) airport in November 2023, will be implemented on the 16 May 2024 publication cycle.

These changes include:

• Deletion of the Downsview Class E Control Zone (CZ) and associated Mandatory Frequency (MF). An abandoned airfield symbol will be placed on appropriate publications.

• Deletion of the Buttonville CZ and MF area. An abandoned airfield symbol will be placed on appropriate publications.     

          Note: The 124.8 MHz MF, within the depicted Buttonville CZ from the surface to 2,000' ASL, will remain in effect until                                    16 May 2024.

• The former Buttonville and Downsview CZs airspace will become a Class E transition area 700' AGL and above and Class G airspace below 700' AGL.

The 2,000' ASL floor of the Class C Terminal Control Area (TCA) above the former Buttonville Airport, serving to facilitate Toronto / Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) traffic, will remain in effect until an Aeronautical Study is completed. See the depiction below for a representation.
