Whether you are interested in receiving operational updates to help you stay informed of important changes to the air navigation system, or you want to get behind-the-scenes insights from NAV CANADA, there is a newsletter that's right for you.
We now have two email newsletters available for subscription. Learn more about the types of information included in each newsletter by reading the descriptions below.
AIP Supplements and AICs contain important updates related to AIP Canada, the country's state aeronautical information publication, as well as other changes that can impact flight safety. The Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter gives you a summary of AIP Supplements and AICs that were added to the NAV CANADA corporate website since the last email. Please note that no email notification is provided when an Aeronautical Information Circular or AIP Supplement ceases to be in effect, and you should always consult the NAV CANADA website for up-to-date information. AIP Supplements and AICs can be accessed through the AIP Canada page.
Service Notices contain important information about changes to the air navigation system. The Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter contains a summary of Service Notices added to the NAV CANADA corporate website since the last email. These notices can be accessed through the Service Notices page.
NAV CANADA regularly evaluates its services and determines how best to meet changing industry needs while maintaining a high level of safety and a consistent level of service across Canada. Level of Service studies are conducted to evaluate potential changes to the air navigation system. The Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter indicates any new Terms of Reference or Notices of Proposal related to a study that have been posted to the NAV CANADA corporate website since the last email. These documents, and more information about our Level of Service policy, can be found on the Level of Service Studies page.
The Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter provides an easy way to help you make sure you don’t miss an aeronautical publication revision cycle. The newsletter contains reminders of upcoming 56-day and annual cycles, advising when it’s time to obtain the next publication versions on our Online StoreOpen a new window or Operational Guides page. Note that VFR charts (VNC and VTA) do not follow these cycles and therefore the VFR Production Schedule should continue be referenced for each chart’s next planned edition date.
The CNOP provides updated information and guidance to NOTAM originators and those involved in input and processing of NOTAMs. The CNOP is amended once per year or as required, and the Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter will let you know when a new issue of the publication is available. The CNOP can be found on our Operational Guides page.
On occasion, the Aeronautical and Service Updates newsletter contains additional information that may be of interest to the aviation community, such as changes to online tools (e.g. Collaborative Flight Planning Services) and other operational updates.
Note: This newsletter is intended for general informational purposes and is provided on an “as-is” basis only. It is and remains the responsibility of the pilot-in-command to obtain all pertinent briefing information prior to each flight.
